My projects lately have been requiring me to draw more. It's good practice and crazy fun. My poor sketchbooks haven't been getting enough love, so it's a great challenge for me and I'm really enjoying it. I'm making a concerted effort to draw something every day, now. It's really helpful to be living with an great illustrator, too. Lemme tell ya, dailyhat is crazy talented.

For me, drawing takes a lot of effort for some reason. My sketches and doodles never look clean or quite right. But as soon as I get them into illustrator, things tend to fall into place. For a lot of people, I'm sure this doesn't seem like a problem, but for me it just seems like a reason to keep practicing. I don't want to keep saying, "It never looks like what I have in my head." So... practice makes perfect. So I'm sharpening my pencils.

I'm old.

My little brother is heading off to college on Thursday.

I remember riding in the back seat of the car with my little sister on the way to the hospital to meet him for the first time. It was during a blizzard. Dad was driving. I heard my dad call someone who cut us off an 'asswipe'. That guy fully deserved it. That's the only swear word I've ever heard my father say (unless "daggumit" counts.)

Enough about that. The biggest baby I'd ever seen is now the tallest little brother I know. Also, the funniest, smartest, and most ridiculous-est.

For a send-off gift I made these. Even though he knows that if he ever needed anything he can call me anytime, he's got the added option to text any of these coupons to me during the semester. He seems to like them. :)

Petaluma - Horse Country

Sunday Funday! Miss Kay and I met friends out in Petaluma this weekend for a horse show. Horse country in California is gorgeous. Kind of like seeing a riding competition home in Georgia, but with mountains in the background and miles and miles of farmland.
