into school and I'm feeling the heat but I think with a deep breath and a fridge full of Redbull this will be my best quarter.
I'm super pumped about my Deathmatch class. Basically, I have an assignment a week to be completed in five days. My professor will send out copies of the work to creatives around the country (and some lucky person in Singapore) who will grade our work on a point scale. The student with the top score gets an A, the student at the bottom fails. Our first assignment: Design this quarter's Design Deathmatch Poster where we'll keep track of the winners and losers for every assignment. We were assigned an influence for inspiration. My influence? Wim Crouwel- Typographic Architect, so naturally a typeface needed to be designed.
Here are some examples of his work here.
Here is my poster submitted yesterday.
The poster uses perspective to represent the idea of winners moving forward and losers falling behind. It creates competition and tension.

I'm pretty proud of the end result. We'll see how well I do. I'm up against some very tough competition.
Are you telling me you made that typeface? It's super-cool! I really love it! I also really like the lines that connect the numbered name spaces, they're very optical illusion-y. Thumbs up!
