There's an app for that?
When you attend an advertising school during a time where everyone in the world's face is constantly fixed to their smartphone screen and push notifications have them reaching for their pockets like pavlov's puppy experiment, iPhone/smartphone apps are king. It's a huge game of "who can make the coolest, sickest, smartest, app?". Why does it matter? And who cares? Does it fit with the brand? Am I asking too many questions? Do you get the point? Welllllll, a lot of the apps pitched don't always have a clear purpose or anything really new and fresh associated with them. Guilty. Some of them are so sick, they appear in my dreams and make me wish I'd thought of them first. Guilty. Sometimes I think of a smart, cool app and I grin ear to ear for the rest of the day. Guilty, I think.
side note: there isn't a day that I don't spend in the hallways at the circus and wish that I had someone else's piece in my book. My class is CRAZY talented and I owe a lot of my growth to them. You gotta work hard to keep up with these kids!
Back to the story at hand. Here's one of those apps that I wish I had been a part of. Although I might be just as excited to play with it. haha. What a smart way to get movie goers to interact with the movie AND get people to stay through the credits. Not to mention the amount of times they see the BestBuy logo.
It's for the movie Despicable Me and it comes from Crispin Porter+Bogusky Boulder. IT TRANSLATES THE MINION'S ADORABLE LANGUAGE FOR YOU!
Here's a super short video.
And this clip has no minions but i liked it. haha
Oh and an article. Here.
Advertising is so. fucking. cool.
